Introduction

Center for the Advancement of Rights and Democracy (CARD) in collaboration with Meta has completed its preparation to award Facebook and Instagram users who created and shared a message of peace in a creative way. Winners will be awarded from Ethiopian Birr 50,000 to 100,000. 

Participants are expected to share their creative message of peace through infographics, animations, photos, or videos with the hashtag #ሰላምለኢትዮጵያ or #Peace4Ethiopia on Facebook or Instagram between November 15 and December 31, 2023. Participants who get the most reactions from one (1) to three (3) will be awarded 100,000 birr, 75,000 birr, and 50,000 birr respectively. In addition, their works will get a paid promotion on the Facebook of CARD.

Objective

The objective of the peace message contest is to encourage Ethiopian social media users to advocate, discuss, and exchange messages about peace in a creative way.

Criteria 

To be accepted into this contest, participants must: 

1. have no previous history of sharing hate speech or incitement on social media; 

2. provide an original work that is not copied from others; share their infographics, animations, photos, or video messages on their Facebook or Instagram platforms, with the hashtags #ሰላምለኢትዮጵያ or #Peace4Ethiopia; 

3. share their infographics, animations, photos, or video messages between November 15 and December 31, 2023. 

4. Participants can use any local language.

Selection of Winners

The three winners of the competition will be selected 1st) if they create and share an original content with a peace message on Facebook or Instagram, 2nd) if they use the hashtag #ሰላምለኢትዮጵያ or #Peace4Ethiopia and #CARDEthiopia, and 3rd) if the content receives the most likes or reactions.
